- Color-coding these connections is highly important. It will help to prevent connecting the battery with reversed polarity. Which can cause severe, (if not fatal), damage to the diodes in your engine's battery charging circuit. A repair of the diodes will cost hundreds of dollars.
- Also, Wing-nut connections can easily become loose. A loose battery connection has the potential to cause damage such as, sparking, circuit loads, and high voltage transients. This can damage any electrical device connected, including the engine itself or electronic accessories. So please ensure your connections are correct, as well as tighten your wing nuts with a crescent wrench or long nose fishing pliers and padding, to ensure its security.
